Gives Back: Erin’s Hope for Friends

Georgia Spa Company’s Gives Back Program selected Erin’s Hope for Friends to be its recipient for the third quarter of 2018. A portion of Georgia Spa’s proceeds from the month of September went to Erin’s Hope for Friends.

About Erin’s Hope for Friends:

Darren and Stacy Horst’s 17-year-old daughter Erin was a gentle and talented girl who faced many challenges, primarily Asperger’s Syndrome. The couple lost their beloved daughter too soon, but aspire to allow Erin’s compassionate spirit to live on through charity.

The Horst family founded Erin’s Hope for Friends in Erin’s loving memory to help teens struggling with Asperger’s and other High Functioning Autism Spectrum (HFAS) disorders make meaningful and lasting social connections.

“If Erin had one really good friend she connected with, a friend she could do something with just one evening a week, it would have changed her whole life,” said Darren.

Erin’s Hope for Friends believes that extending kids with HFAS and Asperger’s the opportunity to form friendships can do just that—change their lives.

They have established there is a gap, something missing in the lives of many teens and young adults who are socially-challenged. They’ve heard it from their Advisory Board, they hear it from parents and schools, and most importantly, they lived it. Erin’s Hope for Friends created E’s Club – a place where teens and young adults with HFAS can meet regularly to have fun and develop meaningful relationships in a safe and encouraging environment. They operate locations in Alpharetta and Acworth. Through E’s Club, they have also recently started a Young Adults night.
