Employee Spotlight: Lisa Shafer

Lisa Shafer joined Georgia Spa Company in May of 2014, and she has served many roles throughout her years as part of the team. Currently, Lisa works as the Inventory Controller and Office Manager. Lisa works hard to ensure many daily tasks are complete and done efficiently while also providing assistance for her coworkers as often as possible. When Lisa isn't at work, she can be found reading or spending time at home with her three pets, two dogs named Birdee and Bestee, and a cat named Maizie.

Why did you decide to work for Georgia Spa Company?
''I started out part time, to help the ladies in the office (that lasted about a week), but I enjoyed the work, so became full time.''

Why do you like working for Georgia Spa Company?
''Everyday is new and different. I enjoy helping people come to their full potential as an employee, and I have very much enjoyed watching the company grow.''

What was your first job?
''Besides babysitting as a tween, my first job was working at Gaslight Grille at a mall in Bloomington, IL. I worked after school and on weekends."

Where do you like to travel and why?
''Anywhere! I just enjoy getting away for a while, no matter how short or long it is.''

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
"Thanksgiving dinner."

How do you prefer to spend your time off?
"Reading and/or hanging out with my family.''

What are three things on your bucket list?
"Visit Alaska, travel the U.S. in an RV with no agenda or time frame, and become a full time volunteer for whoever is needing help at the time.''

What is your favorite sport?
"Any that my grandkids are playing in.''

What is your favorite movie?
"It's a Wonderful Life, Hope Floats, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, and any Tammy movie with Debbie Reynolds.''

What is the best advice you've ever gotten?
"When in a disagreement, always be right, or don't get in a disagreement.''

What is something you would tell your 13-year-old self?
"Life goes by way faster than what you realize. Don't stress about the littlest things, enjoy it all.''

What is your favorite quote?
''Don't ask God for a lighter load, ask for a stronger back. ''

Do you have any pets?
"Birdee, a six-year-old Catahoula. The happiest dog in the world. Commonly referred to as WiggleButt because her tail never stops wagging, even in her sleep sometimes.

Betsee,
a three-year-old Shih Tzu and Chihuahua mix. She was my husband's dog, and so I am getting used to her. She thinks she's a princess, but I have to remind her, that's my job!

Maizie, she's a cat, technically not mine, but she resides in the house with the rest of us.

Butkus. I lost him in October, but I can't leave him out. He was a Great Dane, and the most handsome fellow ever. That's what I told him everyday!"

What's your favorite hot tub and why?
''The Envoy. Every seat hits you in different ways. I love the Captain's Chair, and I love all the other seats just as well, but the Captain's is my favorite.''
